WEDNESDAY 22nd OCTOBER, 2014: ANALYTICAL LIFE CLASS

No 4 of 9 ALL-DAY LIFE CLASSES IN THE LONDON SKETCH CLUB IN DILKE STREET

Every class starts with a short slideshow to introduce that day’s theme and set up our community of enquiry. There are three distinct approaches present in these exciting, intense and structured thematic classes, allowing artists to explore analytical, interpretative and expressive approaches:

EACH ANALYTICAL DAY WILL COMPRISE A WHOLE DAY WORKING IN FRONT OF THE MODEL, WITH DRAWING EXERCISES FOLLOWED BY PAINTING. THIS CLASS will use a balanced palette based on KEITH VAUGHAN’s painted life studies.

Vaughan was trying to ‘reveal the possibility of order in areas hitherto seen as chaotic’.

THIS CLASS WILL RUN FROM 10 AM TO 4.30 PM. Easels, tables and drawing boards are here in the Studio, but you will need to bring most artists’ materials – I will send you a list of exercises and materials two weeks ahead of the course.

10:00   slide show/discussion
10:30   set up and coffee
10:45   led drawing/painting exercises
1:00     lunch (please bring your own, or partake in a pub lunch nearby)
2:00     resolution/devlopment, usually painting in oils to suggested palette(s)
4:30     finish painting for the day

SIGN UP TO THIS COURSE by filling in the form below. Please state how you would like to pay – places are not confirmed until I receive your payment TWO WEEKS BEFORE THE CLASS, as I must confirm each class with the Sketch Club by then, when I become liable for the substantial fee.

So, by 8th October at the latest for this course, please either send me £95 (or £85 for each course if you are signing up for three or more) to

Jonathan Ellis, c/o Glendene, Wick Lane, DEVIZES, SN10 5DW

or, preferably pay using online banking by BACS – if you check that box below, I will send you my bank details by email.

Very many thanks

Jonathan
