SIGN UP NOW on this page for these Wednesday evening Life Classes, suitable for artists of all capabilities, which all begin with a short introductory slide show, to identify possible points of focus for the evening’s session.

The class will start with slides at 7.30pm. We’ll end at 10pm, with a 15 minute break included.

ALL MATERIALS WILL BE PROVIDED, including easels, boards, an ample supply of drawing materials and papers.

EACH CLASS costs £50, including everything you need to draw with, as above. These are uniquely stimulating and challenging courses, being about the sharing of knowledge and shared discoveries, beginning with the shared stimulus of a bespoke presentation by an experienced and enthusiastic tutor and culminating with a crit of work at the end.

Whether you are a practising or aspiring artist or a complete beginner, come along to the London Sketch Club on Wednesday evenings –  See below for recent examples of work made during my Life Classes,

As you can see, these pieces have been made as the result of discussion, propulsion and exploration – composition, negative spaces, mark-making, how light enters the picture plane are explicitly tackled, as well as the more nuanced attributes of narrative and intent. Expect to be moved sideways a little – if I have a mantra, it is that you ought to come away from these classes with work that you wouldn’t otherwise have attempted!

This course will use depictors of people, old masters and new masters alike, as stimuli to help you find your own strengths as a drawer, in an informed way. Each week, we will focus on a particular aspect, skill or technical discovery from an artist or movement so that you will build up a collection of skills.
