A wonderful article, heartfelt and clear, that is impossible to argue with.

(As an art teacher in posh schools) it has always been properly rewarding to show pupils, often privileged, the personal and societal benefits of learning (yes, learning not just finding out about by chance) the value of creativity.

I wholeheartedly agree with the thrust of the article, that the function of the arts is to be subversive when necessary as well as being arguably the subject (yes, subject) most likely to provide meaning on a spiritual level for the pupil.
