Tuesday – a better painting day at last.

at last some sort of clarity …

The more I try to transpose drawing into paint, the more the paint imposes itself on the picture. This is at once so remarkably obvious and evident and at the same time so surprising that as I begin, for the first time in years to make the paint obey my will, to some extent, I find that the necessary tension, which may  make the painting come alive, seems to exist on the level of the brushstroke, rather than the power of a particular image- I am just beginning to earn the right to move into actual painting – Mendelssohn’s Scottish Symphony helped!
